What is a Web Site?

The question in the title of this article may have more than one answer. Some of these responses can be:

  • a way to access information located on another computer than the local (technically)
  • a marketing tool used properly can propel a brand or business (economic)
  • a way to relax (point of view of someone looking on the internet ways to relax or fun) arrow

The list could continue but I'll stop here.

The fact is that the question above is a subjective, but consistent in my humble experience is that usually a site has at least two characteristics that are constant:

  • any site containing information
  • sites are presented to others

Why I Made This Site?

First of all a site is a vehicle for information, and information can have many ways of expression.

I wanted to review  in this site some of  the possibilities for formatting raw information that are provided by web technology. I will do this whitout entering into technical details. I will demonstrate visually just some of the possibilities which are provide by web technology.

The technology behind what we call the "Internet" is like any other technology and has limitations and similarities with other technologies.

Among other computing technologies with the greatest similarity websites has use in desktop publishing technology. The similarity is especially on the final product is present on the screen, but there are some similar conceptual elements. Although there are these similarities, the technical execution is usually typical and unique to each of the technologies listed, each with its limitations.

What I present?

Information from any site can be classified by type in the following main categories:

  • Layout
  • Text
  • Images
  • Multimedia

The following articles will present with visual examples of each of these elements.
